Uzbekistan Craftsmanship Program (13 days / 12 nights)

A trip to Uzbekistan wouldn’t be complete without knowledge of Uzbekistan craftsmanship. Some kinds of crafts had been developed since medieval times, some of them originated at present time.

Every region has its own specific craft. You will see leather processing and leather products in Surkhandarya region, carpet weaving in Samarkand region, metal chasing and gold embroidery in Bukhara region and etc. 

There is ceramic production in every region but it is different: Rishtan and Gijduvan ceramics have their own traditions, technologies, colour and shape.

We will be acquainted with these and many other types of crafts combined with magnificent historical monuments during our tour which will make it full and impressive.

Shakhrisabz was one of the most important trade centres on the Great Silk Road. However, the greatest fame it acquired as the Motherland of Tamerlane. This is where the future great commander spent his childhood and teenage years.

One of the oldest cities in the world Samarkand is 2750-years old. It amazes with its magnificent buildings of the medieval architecture that have been preserved until nowadays. It was here where the patron of science Mirzo Ulugbek erected his observatory in the XV century, which had no equal.

Termez is one of the centres of Buddhism, which preserved its importance until the Arab invasion. The religion of Buddhism penetrated into the territory of Central Asia from the South, from the territory of Bactria. It reached its apogee during the reign of the Kushan Empire. The religious monuments of that time are interesting not only for archaeologists, but also for many tourists. Architectural and archaeological monuments, communication with the local people, acquaintance with the history of the country will leave you an unforgettable impression of the trip.

Between Tashkent and Samarkand  the Talgo train “Afrosiab” runs daily. Depending on the time of arrival / departure planned in the program you can do some of the above mentioned routes by train instead of road.

In picturesque Fergana valley in Uzbekistan you will visit Kokand, Margilan and Rishtan cities. Your further way lies through the Osh city on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Osh, which is a famous trade point on the Great Silk Road, is 3000 years old. From Osh the travel will go on to the Pamir highway over the Taldyk pass (3 615 m). You will view a panorama of unique landscape and mountains of an extraordinary beauty. Climbing down through the pass to Sarytash place you will see the grandeur of Pamir’s snow pinnacles. The next part of your program will be in China.

The main part of the journey will be carried in northwestern part of China, in Xingjian autonomous region. In this majestic place are tangent eastern and western civilizations.
