Bukhara is an open air city-museum with more than 170 ancient architectural monuments. One of the most important of them is Samanids mausoleum (10th century), built by Ismail Samani, the founder of the dynasty. You will visit Chashma-Ayub mausoleum (Saint Job’s source), Ark fortress, Poi Kalon ensemble with its architectural monuments like Miri Arab Madrasa, Kalon Mosque and one of the tallest minarets in Central Asia – the famous minaret Kalon built by the ruler Arslan Khan in the 12th century; the word kalon means great.
We continue the city tour visiting Ulughbek madrasa built in the 15th century by a distinguished mathematician and astronomer, the grandson of Tamerlane, and Abdulazizkhan madrasa situated opposite it. Then we will visit Taqi (trading domes), Magoki Attari Mosque and Lyabi-Khauz architectural ensemble, consisting of three monuments – Kukeldash Madrasa, Nodir Divon Begi Madrasa and khanako; as well as the most peculiar monument of the city Chor-Minor Madrasa.
